Protesters ask Walmart in Mexico to "face the music"
Capping a week of U.S-based protests in Denver, Philadelphia, D.C., Charlotte and Seattle, activists gathered outside Walmart headquarters and Sam's Club in Mexico City to send a clear message of compassion for laying hens, serenaded by an 11-piece mariachi band.
While the company has agreed to phase out cages for laying hens in the U.S., Canada and the U.K, it has not yet extended the policy to Mexico and the rest of Latin America.
In addition to the live traditional music, the protest featured a traveling billboard highlighting Walmart's double standards for people and animals in Mexico.
The Humane League will not let up pressure on the company until it addresses this animal cruelty. You can help by visiting WalmartDoubleStandards.com and taking the actions listed.
